Eid Festival

Welcomes you to Eid Street Festival 2018

About IAS
• The IAS is a non-profit organization established in 1970.
• It is the first and the oldest mosque in Saskatchewan and is the only representative of
Muslims with two other mosques (in west and north) under its umbrella to accommodate Muslim
population of over 9000 and a diverse congregation of over 50 nationalities under one roof.
Reason for Street Festival
• At the end of the Hajj (annual pilgrimage to Makkah), Muslims throughout the world celebrate
the holiday of Eid al-Adha (Festival of Sacrifice).
• The meat from the sacrifice of Eid al-Adha is mostly given away to others. One-third is eaten
by immediate family and relatives, one- third is given away to friends, and one-third is donated to
the poor. The act symbolizes our willingness to give up things that are of benefit to us or close
to our hearts, in order to follow Allah’s commands
• To cater the growing Muslim community and to include our neighbouring communities IAS has
arranged the Eid Street Festival for everyone to come together and enjoy the day with their family,
friends, and neighbours.

Apart from Eid and Ramadan, IAS commences various community events for adults and children alike.
